Clone it, then bounce your opponents one before your clone resolves.
Win.
Suddenly their dragon deck becomes your dragon deck, and their best responce is to pay 7 to remove one of your dragons. Lol.

I still think Karthus is a bit overpowered. He has the best slow in the game which happens to be AoE and an ultimate that hits all of your opponents like a truck.

The problem with karrthus is the obvious.. it only works on dragons. While every set needs cards that only work on certain things, those same cards are also the least playable. For example, even a card that has protection from 1 color is still only useful with that ability 1/5 of the time (or maybe more depending on how much multi color decks you fight). In this case it's even more unlikely.. how many decks are you going to fight that your opponent just happens to have dragons in play and you have a karrthus waiting in your hand?
Shields of velis vel is a cool combo indeed, except that you need 9 mana to use it on one turn, and that's not very likely. At the same time, if your opponent has 9 mana, there's plenty of reversals that can be played, or a quick day of judgment.

I love this guy. I run a lone copy in my UBR 10 Land Dstorm deck and getting him with four Hellkites can wipe out two players in one turn... So much better in that deck than Rorix.

U run him in a domain deck (5 colors) and he is my main win-con. the key here is that he doesn't require more than one of each of the jund colors whereas hellkite overlord can be much harder to drop when i am trying to get 2 white for wrath of god or something. He's big, he's fast, and he flys. His steal dragons ability is purely a bonus. P.S. use the -2 ability on sarkhan the mad on an opponents creature then drop karrthus.
