Sometimes it is hard trying to talk about one split card if you don't say it with the other. Maybe they should have saved "rough and tumble" for a kicker card or for something like Slice and dice.

Don't think of it as strictly worse, in some cases its better than a pyroclasm.
Yes, Pyroclasm can hit all creatures for 2, but dont forget you can cascade into Rough, with as low as 3 mana to cast tumble.
A Violent Outburst could pump up your creatures and clear their board of fliers early on if need be.

This is such a good card in a delver deck. Keeps your mongooses, tarmogoyfs, and delvers alive, but kills everything else

how is this flexible compared to pyroclasm? or by flexible do you mean strictly worse than and it uses more words? unless you have cheap fliers in your red deck that are worth playing...are there any such cards? by the time you have Tumble mana, you can cast something much better.

Tumble deals 2 damages to each creature with flying.
Most of the times, you use a board sweep to deal with several little creatures, not with some giant creatures. This tumble wouldn't destroy more than a couple of big creature. Yes, it could destroy a lot of little flying creatures, but that means that it's quite overcosted, and that could do the same job if it were cheaper and deal less damages...

Clearly, if you are using this instead of pyroclasm, you ARE using flyers, good ones at that. Not all decks are monocolored, you know. Even if you are using monored, the ability to have a one-sided Pyroclasm (even if it won't affect the opponent's flyers) for the same amount of mana as Pyroclasm is worth using even mediocre flyers for, in my opinion. Also, don't forget about Tumble, which can kill Sphinx of Jwar Isle as well as Sigarda, Host of Herons.
