Can't play Searing Wind? With this out, you don't need to.

A buddy of mine has a deck built around this card. Completly insane... until I cast a Runed Halo.

Use with Grozoth, along with other cards that rely on high mana costs of course.

This appears to be a take on Stormbind, an oldschool card that converted unused cards in your hand into Shocks. The difference, other than the costs involved, is that you can get 0 damage when you discard a land. As with most random discard, it is best utilized when you control it - for example, playing this in an eldrazi deck, and using it when you have a ton of huge monsters and no lands in your hand.

Also, RIP Quinton Hoover, one of the all-time iconic Magic artists. While this may not be one of his most remembered cards, the art is pretty darn cool still.

I didn't know that Quinton Hoover died, and really recently...
As Glen Angus, another great artist that leaved this word just too early...
