Should have reprinted it with the original Foglio art, just to give it a real last hurrah.

The art it has now is just too forgettable; nothing is going on at all.

We have real-life sulfurous springs here in New Zealand.

Well, A3Kitsune, you should ask yourself if you're more of a Duress man or a Lightning Bolt man. There really is no wrong answer.

You must be looking at a different card, because Rob Alexander's work is pretty solid here. His use of contrasting colors is very well done, as well as the amount of detail is incredible. You can feel the subtle, evil presence lurking in these springs. Sure, it doesn't have double volcanoes erupting or some geometric and physics bending abnormality going on, but this is easily 5/5 art.

In a professional deck, this cycle is much better then the m10.
Less risk of coming into play tapped and wasting a turn.

The beautiful art + black border increase this editions cost to about 3x the cost (~$2.5-3), but it's worth it.

These lands are quite amazing at smoothing out your game, and I usually only incur 1-2 damage from them over a game, which is pretty good when you consider you pay 2 life to Shocklands, the 3rd best lands in the game (Original Duals, Fetches, Shocks)

These are probably 4th or 5th best, which is pretty good.

Advantages of Pain-lands:
-Come in untapped *no matter what*
-Thusly, they are usable for T1 plays, which filterlands are not, and some duel lands with requirements are not
-Only conditionally cause you damage. If you drew your basics or other duels, you can just tap for colorless; especially in color light decks that are just trying to smooth things out
-Not bad in multiples (such as the Tainted lands)
