Mind Control for 5 mana lets you have target creature.
Confiscate for 6 mana lets you have target permanent.
Take Possession for 7 mana lets you have target permanent and it can't be blocked.

To me, one of the most strategic decisions blue players have to make is which one of these three they want to run in a deck. All of them have their uses, and its really difficult to decide on one before you ever see an opponent's deck.

Do not discount the Split Second on this card. Totally, utterly worth the cost. Especially in EDH :)

"This card is just mind control that costs 2 more mana for targetting at a permanent and has split second"

Well, uh...yeah? I think 2 mana is worth being able to target planeswalkers, and being immune to responses. If it's not, well then I'm not sure what's worth 2 mana.

Also looks like the elf on both sides of the time thing is a Lorwyn/ Shadowmoor elf- another bit of Future Sight preview...
