In games without the Power 9 or Wheel of Fortune, this was a fantastic card.

Phenomenal art and ability for a manageable cost.
Play with Bant hexproof, although the Umbra auras may make this obsolete.

For a colour dominated by giant monsters, it made perfect sense for the set.
After spending 6-7 mana getting out a Craw Worm or other beastie, yeah, this is like an insurance policy.
