The reason he looks so strange is that during the Onslaught block (in which he was originally printed) the Mirari, an incredibly powerful artifact that grants the desires of its possessor, has been stuck into the ground of the Krosan Forest. This causes the Mirari to leak its power into the surrounding land; eventually pulses of magic from the Mirari reach the entirety of the continent of Otaria. This has a warping effect on its inhabitants: they become exaggerated versions of themselves. Soldiers become hugely-musclebound and lose their mouths, elves become massive, almost tree-like beings covered in vines, and wizards become fluid, almost water-like beings made of energy.

However for the most part, mechanically, the cards themselves retain their original creature type, though some gain the "mutant" creature type, as well.

Awesome, no doubt about it. Very cheap misdirection.

That face-down card you see? It's always a Willbender.

Always.

One of the funnest things to do with a Willbender is to stick some massive aura on it. When your opponent grabs the obvious two-for-one by removing, you redirect the removal on to one of THEIR creatures for a 2-for-0! Even if they take it out afterwards you're up a card.

Could a more experience player tell me if this effect works on auras as well? As in if someone put one on their creature/land, could I transfer control to one of mine instead?
