Justicarphaeton: Yawgmoth had corrupted Urza, and Gerrard was there because he thought Yawgmoth could bring his girlfriend back from the dead. Yawgmoth had them fight it out because, well, he's kind of a douche.

One life for an extra card to work with each turn. As always, an amazing card, and anyone who underrates it either doesn't appreciate card advantage, or has never seen one in use.

There's lots of debate over whether this is better than Dark Confidant, or vice versa. To me, both are excellent choices for some nice card advantage generation, and although Bob might be more useful overall, only one thing truly matters to me:
Dark Confidant: ~$80
Phyrexian Arena: ~$8

In suicide, Dark Confidant is better because he gives you an aggressive body to beat with and you usually won't be losing much more than 2 or 3.
Great card though, rather have the arena for long games and control.
