I would love to build a deck around this guy. He's big, and he can swing in for so much damage in one turn.

It's amazing... people compare this to Mordant or Steel, but what they forget is that he can deal direct damage to players too... and thats pretty big, especially when he's already an evasive 5/5

interesting to note that he can take out multiple opponents in multiplayer.

I like the way that he can clear out flying blockers, and it's a solid 5/5 flyer for 6. After trying out a lot of different dragons, I've found Flameblast to work the best for me, though it's probably because I use him in decks that don't have enough burn.

Which is every deck, now that I think about it...

This is my kind of dragon, it has a build in fireball system each time you attack with it.
very useful for any mono red that needs another fireball.
4.5/5

Four please! One of the most playable dragons around. When you're not playing mono-red, he's better than Shivan Dragon, Ancient Hellkite, and Mordant Dragon.

Blaze on a stick > Firebreathing very often particularly because of the mana and the flexiblity. You could theoretically splash red in a mostly green mana ramp deck just for this guy.

By the standard that a card just needs to give you equal worth for its cost and not necessarily be stupidly, hyper-efficient, and meta-game breaking to merit a 5/5, then this an easy 5/5 in the right deck. Great job on this card, Wizards! Keep it up!

Update: It's going to be part of the M12 core set! Yay! :-)

Mordant and Steel don't do anything if they don't hit your opponent.

@ Condor: Ancient Hellkite can't damage players, that's a huge thing.

If you're playing mono-red, trade this in for Ancient Hellkite - for just {R} more, you get +1/+1, and can distribute the damage among as many targets as necessary without paying that extra mana, which could be crucial to taking down everything they have.
