......... Why was this in the core set with giant growth?

Anyone?

Did wizards just want you to be able to make a stupidly large creature on your turn for only 8 Green and 4?

I even played during 7th and didn't notice this.........

Being a sorcery kills most of the use of this card as a combat trick.

Strictly worse than Titanic growth. Being a sorcery really hurts this card.
