Seems like a nice common to pick up if you get early Chandras' Phoenix in draft.

I've always wanted to combo this with Fiery Temper in Modern. RedRedRed for 2 cards and a Lightning Bolt? Very colour heavy, but I thought mono-red burn was a thing...

@ Tamerlein

Really? No card advantage? I consider filtering cards into my graveyard to be a distinct advantage, so long as I can use those cards later. Flashback, Unearth, etc. If played right, it's basically draw two cards; store one card for later.

I play this in my cheap RDW deck. Absolute highest mana cost is 5, so all those extra mountains become dead draws after that point. Wild Guess lets me throw one away and potentially draw two more burn spells. At absolute least, I draw two more mountains and I've thinned my deck slightly rather than waiting to draw them normally.

Everyone keeps talking about card advantage - right now in standard, it's really hard to get a card advantage with mono-red. There are very few red "draw" spells, and considering both Guttersnipe and Young Pyromancer will react to this, I wouldn't mind pitching a junk spell or extra land solely to thin my deck down to more useful cards. With scry now in the format, this becomes even more useful, as it allows you to pitch a land or something to a card you just scry'd up with a magma jet in the mid/late game. And of course, you can always just pitch another wild guess to this one.

You don't necessarily need to worry about reusing the cards, just think about it as trading a card you don't need for a card you might.

Of course, Dragon Mantle is always a possibility, but again, no net advantage. You'd need to splash another color if you actually want an advantage.

This card might not look that good on the surface, but it's always proven useful to me whenever I draw it and have on too many mountains in my hand.

While it doesn't give you card advantage, this is red so any card draw spells that you can get are usually somewhat usable.

3/5

Works a treat if you have a Nivix Guildmage on the field.

You're essentially pitching two cards (this + the discarded one) to draw two cards. So you're not really gaining any card advantage by casting this. But if you could take advantage of what you discarded, then perhaps this could be useful.
