So, it loses that amount? If my math from high school isn't failing me, isn't that a double negative, meaning it cancels out and becomes positive?

Good point

Poor wording. If you lose something that is negative then you gain it. If you lose negative weight then surely you put on that much weight? It is almost a double negative - although it is not quite a pure one.
