The vigilance doesn't make up for the fact that this guy is overcosted. Who's attacking with 2/5s, anyways?

Yeah, you can attack and block with it, but with only 2 power... what good does attacking do?

I've actually wanted to experiment more with Vigilant creatures. It seems that you can get great mileage if they are truly good creatures, such as Twilight Shepherd or Adarkar Valkyries (angels, I presume).
