I swear, people don't seem to care that baneslayer doesn't have vigilance. Like lifelink makes up completely for the inability to attack and block in the same round.
With the original text this would have vigilance when Opalescence is out :P

People underestimate this card. How many creature searches/recoveries does white have? Very few... How many enchantment searches/recoveries does white have? Plenty. You could get it straight on the battlefield with Academy Rector or search for it with one of the white tutors. By all means Baneslayer is a great card, but it's harder to access in the deck, unless you're running the right colours.

Baneslayer Angel may be better, but Baneslayer can be Replenished after a Wrath of God.

Better than Serra Angel if it works right, but at 5 mana your opponent has plenty of time to stock up on creatures. They probably won't have anything they really want to play.
Edit: haha, yep. With M10 out, this is completely obsolete.

Following this up with Jokulhaups next turn can mean you win the game in short order. Don't underestimate how powerful it can be to get Archangel on the board while your opponent struggles to recover, either holding their creatures for fear of her, or trying to remove this enchantment badly while you continue to play post-disaster.

More efficient than the actual Archangel, usually! Although, they serve slightly different purposes; this one can stop your enemy from dropping that last fatty, for example.
