For only a few mana, your hard hitters are suddenly free to rampage all over your enemies' faces :) I think it's a great card, especially as a last resort type thing since your creatures will still take the combat damage from the blockers.

This would make a strong case for splashing red in a poison deck.

This is rated over 4, yet Falter is barely above 3. The obscure utility that Kryptnyt mentioned hardly outweighs the benefits of Falter.
