Good for EDH.

Also, you can target yourself, so if you're really in a bind, you can sacrifice some high power creature of yours, or one that you stole, to draw a bunch of cards.

A situational but fun card. If everyone of your opponent's is a bomb, this card is amazing. Against white weenie prior to honor of the pure... Not so much.

I second the praise for EDH. With so much board sweeping, you'll nearly always get to pick your "target."

Cost is too high, but really good ability no doubt, it removes creature and draw cards, especially the draw cards part almost make the cost worth it :D

Haunting flavor. The poor judge.

Whenever I see this card I always think about JVL's Ravnica block limited story in one of his BOAB articles (http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/boab/70). Drawing 6 cards and killing that player's Cytospawn Shambler would be twisted justice indeed.

I think it's a pretty cool card, if your opponent only has one creature you get 2 for 1!

obviously situational, but nothing beats killing a shroud or pro creature and replenishing your hand.
well, maybe stealing it, hitting them with it, and then sacking it, ala slave of bolas.
hard to say which of the two i like the most...

@Guest513736147: the Jacob Van Lunen's story is my favourite of all times!

This card costs like a hell, but with a severe control in the previous turns it's just an epic win! The fact that it costs so much means that it won't be overused like the others "Target player sacrifices a creature." cards, but it's in the late game that there are the biggest creature. You have to have other means to control the boards in the early game, but if you do everything right, at the end this is a powerhouse! Removal+draw isn't so common; removal+mass draw is almost unseen! (Ok, Decree of Pain is mass removal + mass draw, but it's the only one, I think... Edit: Even better: Overwhelming Forces...)

4.5/5

Ahahaha, I miss using this card. It's been a while, but it was fun with Nightscape Familiars in a casual red/blue/black deck I made... The card is costed well, but you have to aim it properly for it to be worth that cost.
The art is hilarious. Dude is on the stand, and they have a noose ready... does the floor kick out or does a drake fly up holding the rope? lol
