If it cost WW, it would be terribly overpowered.
Jetzine is right, this card is flawless for what it wants to do.

This guy was in the tenth edition starter deck I started out with, even if I had to combine it with the blue starter deck to actually have a legal deck.

This guy was quite beastly in it. I could counter them if they did anything important during combat(or pre-combat, like an overrun or so), and I could flash in this solid 2/2 first striker. Usually this guy is an early game removal spell, or some pressure to add to the board at their end of turn. A good man. He won't win you the game, but you'll be happy to play him.

{W}{W} would have been too powerful, besides at a cost of {2}{W} it is balanced and more easily splashed into multicoloured decks, this would be awesome in a {U}{W} deck maybe.

Flash and first strike? On a common, no less? Awesome art and flavour text makes this a solid card.

If you really want to give your opponent's Waylay-inspired nightmares, run with Haakon, Stromgald Scourge. It's not cheap, but it's a combat trick that literally will not die

I drafted 3 of these guys when Tenth Edition was released, and at least one showed up in every game I played. Notable plays:

- Played two in response to an attack, and killed a baited Craw Wurm on a seemingly open board. Went on to swing in for fatal damage a few turns later.

- Played all 3 on the opponent's turn after they spent their mana on bringing out something big. On my own turn, killed their creature and swung for 6 surprise damage.

This is a great common. It's often flashed into play as a removal spell against attackers, and in BlueWhite decks, can be played at the end of your opponent's turns when you have 3 mana open and Cancel in your hand...or your opponent thinks you do. One of the best things about this creature is the mind games that it enables - do you have it in your hand? It changes how your opponent plays when they know you have one. All in all, an excellent common.

Also, the art is fantastic. It has so much ... (see all)
