read the actual card not the oracle text, the oracle text made me think they didn't have to put it on another creature.
I need this card.

I love the fact that I have this card, I'm thinking of making a deck with cards like bronze table, and Tetravus just to *** people off as they try and figure out what the hell my card does. I'd really like a Our Market Research Shows That Players Like Really Long Card Names So We Made this Card to Have the Absolute Longest Card Name Ever Elemental to put the preverbial cherry on top.

What's the deal with these vintage cards with absurdly long rule text to achieve a relatively simple effect? At least on that point I can confirm that WotC has improved greatly.

Listen, young ones, as I translate from the Old Tongue...

enchant creature. During the enchanted creature's controller's upkeep, put a -0/-1 counter on enchanted creature.

When enchanted creature dies, enchanted creature's controller choses another creature. If he does, attach Takklemaggot to that creature. If he cannot, Takklemaggot becomes a non-Aura enchantment, loses "enchant creature" and gains "At the beginning of the upkeep of the last player who controlled a creature enchanted by Takklemaggot, deal 1 damage to that player."

(This glossing over the "return to the battlefield under your control" dance that you must do when Takklemaggot is destroyed as a state-based action.)

Or, in plain speech: Takklemaggot infects a creature, and deals 1 "damage" (in the form of a -0/-1 counter) each upkeep. When that dies, it hops onto another creature (chosen by controller of last victim). If there are no creatures left, then Takklemaggot essentially infects that player, dea... (see all)

Not just Pestilence - I have this in a deck with all pro-black creatures as well. Why, no, as a matter of fact, it's not coming back to me, why do you ask? Unless, of course, you feel like attaching it to my Academy Rector...
