Ahhhh, Counterpost, those were the days!! This card dominated the tournament landscape back then together with Necropotence.

Not strictly better than a Plains, but if you for Soldier tribal, this is a powerful token engine.

The Oracle and the printed text on this is very diffrent, the old wording would trigger landfall while it now won't... which I really fail to see the need for as there are loads of lands that essentialy do what the printed text says. :/

Oh... this is such an amazing card anyways. xD

Some information about the dreaded Counterpost decks of old for all you youngsters:

https://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtgcom/feature/86

What can I say about this land? A huge part of counterspell decks is the ability to do something with that mana you left open should your opponent pass the turn. This allowed you to get a creature to attack and defend with, one that could attack immediately if you used this ability on their turn. As a land, this is uncounterable, and as a player of counterspells, you could thwart their attempts on killing your Outpost. A lot of these decks also played Wrath of God for when things got out of hand, but you would be able to pump out a soldier on an empty board, provided you had the mana for it.

In modern times, land destruction is not as prevalent as it once was, and the Soldier tribe has tons of support, making this card once again quite powerful.

Was once powerful, but has aged beyond agressive playablility.
Still, works wonders with Opposition.

I'm responding to a WAY old comment... but @DaJoshMaster -- this still triggers landfall, even with the new Oracle text. It still "enters the battlefield" -- you just technically sac the Plains as a requirement of it doing so.
