You crafty man, Cao Cao. Stealing rice is ingenious.

Portal sets have their mechanical difficulties. Most likely this is just a case of "Portal rules won't let this card work the way it should, so it had to work this way instead". In other words, just don't worry about it.

I don't think a Planeswalker would much care if he had some grain stolen.
You can summon creatures, shoot bolts of death and create entire landscapes. But you can't just generate a bit of rice?

Nice, but unoriginal. I'd play it, but wouldn't have to like it.
Unless I was playing a food based deck...there are a surprising number of "gorge" and "feast" cards...

Is it just me, or should a card named "Stolen Grain" deal less damage than a freaking LIGHTNING BOLT TO THE FACE?

It's indeed unoriginal, which further increases my surprise of the fact that there is no non-Portal version of this.
On top of this, how is one supposed to deal five freaking damage by stealing grain?
If the opponent lost the life directly (which would suit better to this life-draining spell anyways), then it would at least make some sense.
