i want to see more masticores. pretty good body, discard disadvantage, gun down creatures, cheap, extra bonus goodie (first strike here)

they'd better reprint this in scars of mirrodin!

there's a masticore in scars of mirrodin now lol, my dream came true

Put a Loxdon Warhammer on this thing and it's really annoying, 3 life every turn for a discard, and then 8 if you attack. Plus they have to block with a 5/9 minimum or a creature with 5/X and first strike. It's very bothersome to get rid of without arti-hate.

You discard a card and deal 3 damage... that sounds an awful lot like Lightning Bolt, one of the best cards in the game. Except this one is free, and coloress.

So you get free Lightning Bolts and a 5/5 first striker for 5 mana IN ANY COLOR?

Call me crazy, but that's a faaaantastic card.

It's on the draw step to make sure you have a card to discard.

My first rare. Boy, did I not understand it. :P

ah yes, the last ability is in the draw step instead of upkeep so that the defending player has a chance to make you discard a card uselessly as he destroys it before you can deal dmg

Squee, Goblin Nabob. Problem solved.

Is it just me or is this card designed to go together perfectly with Eon Hub?

Draw step for the last ability? Why not just always the upkeep?

But yeah, I love this card, I've always felt like it deserved to be the finisher in those controlling decks over stuff like serra angel.
