For 3 mana, it can regenerate from land destruction. It is protected from creature-kill when it's not a creature, when it is a creature, it's black. Damage? Regenerates. Non-bury creature-kill? Regenerates. And the black mana it produces (and, you know, needs to activate and regenerate) means whoever is playing this probably runs enough discard that any removal that would actully remove this will not get played.

It should be a 1/1 Zergling instead.

Drudge Skeletons as a land?

I like how if you're blocking with it, it can regenerate itself by just tapping for mana. Which is kind of what Drudge Skeletons are built to do; the infinite chump block.

Actually it should be:
Spawning pool (land)
Spawning pool enters the battlefield tapped
{T}: add B to your mana pool
{1}: Put a 1/1 zergling token onto the battlefield. This ability may only be used once per turn.
{R}: All zerglings have haste
{2R} All zerglings have double strike

In the heat of blocking you have the mana to turn this into a creature? Practical in theory but difficult to pull off.

A little underpowered next to the other manlands but the ability to regen is nice. Plus if you have the extra mana why not smack the other guy for one.

Back in 4th edition, the basic land "swamp" was misprinted with the casting cost, ability, test, and name of "Drudge Skeletons" (or Drudge Skeletons was misprint as a swamp...who knows?). I believe the misprint was only in German. Anyway, this land references the misprint, which is quite humorous imo.
