Easy 2 for 1 card advantage in green. It's a really nice all purpose card for casual decks that have to expect the unexpected but don't want to dedicate slots in their deck to pure enchantment/artifact hate. You will always get a 4/4 guy for 5 mana with this.
In a metagame where you know that your opponents are frequently casting lots of targets for this this is a staple really.
The downside is that you have to be careful with your own enchantments/artifacts because if your opponent doesn't run any you might end up killing one of your permanents. So it restricts the way you build your decks in that you probably don't want to run too many if any enchantments or artifacts.

I have to agree with Kiro.
My favourite Swiss Army Knife in the casual environment. Acidic Slime is a little bit more versatile in case your opponents don't play any artifacts/enchantments - and circumvents the marginal drawback for your own enchantments/artifacts with possible land destruction, but at the price of raw attacking power.

This creature is a 4/4, that alone makes it a bigger offensive threat than Acidic Slime. Acidic Slime is more versatile but also much smaller. I think deck style will determine which to use.
If I use Living Wish, I'd use Acidic Slime since it's for utilities.

I prefer acidic slime, but this guy is more splashable and a beatdown threat.

as said, more splashable than Slimer, but I prefer Slimer. He can kill lands, this guy cannot. Also, while this guy has a higher power, I would almost have to disagree with Cyberium about the offensive threat. Consider Slimer's deathtouch. This guy can be blocked by an x/5 or greater with out batting an eyelash. Slimer's deathtouch means he can either play a strong defensive position, or swing with impunity pending the defneder doesnt want to lose a guy to deathtouch. What this guy has going for him, however, is his beast subtype. Contested cliffs, ravanous baloth, other "beast matters" cards... In a dedicated beast deck, this guy is > Slimer... ever where else I would run Slimer instead, personally. 3.5/5
