Kill something, no questions, no responses. It's dead, right there. I absolutely love this spell. 5/5

The person in the lower right of the artwork does not look enough like Teferi. Minus 4 is good enough, for those that need split second do not exceed that toughness. Blessed be Split Second.
If a card says "Shroud", then the keyword "Shroud" is called a static ability. The question of whether or not something can be targeted is answered before you could ask it. Ever since Inkwell Leviathan was on the board, it has become fact that nothing can target him. So, you can't Sudden Death Inky into a 3/7. What you might be thinking about is aiming a Sudden Death at this guy. To deal with Inky, you'll want this card and an appropriate follow-up.

Screw indestructible, regenerate and counterspells... and only 3 mana? Wow.

I love this card. I already posted this somewhere else; but with a monoblack deck, Mutilate followed up with Sudden Death targeted at anything the mutilate didn't kill gives Mono Blue fits.
Sudden Death is excellent JUST for the split second; got a killer combo? Use Sudden Death to kill a creature, and lock the enemy out of counters.

shroud is a static ability, bio, so it is not stopped by split second. also, he couldn't be targeted in the first place, because shroud prevents a spell from being cast targeting him, so it wouldn't go on the stack, so split second wouldn't even be relevant.

In some ways the best kill card ever. This is the only card that kills Ghost Council of Orzhova, without needing multiple cards, in the entire game. Also, it's an instant, so for creatures that have a toughness greater than 4 you can use it as an amazing combat trick.

If you're killing */4 creatures, you absolutely can't beat Sudden Death for, well, sudden death. I wonder if it would have been too powerful if it had outright said "Destroy target (probably nonblack) creature" instead?
