Each Time Spiral card was an homage to at least one previously printed card.

The card references Rescue; this spellshaper turns any card in your hand into one! Tolaria West is the site of a new wizards' school founded upon the Academy Ruins of Tolarian Academy.

The camera angle and pose makes it look like he's a character in a Dragonball Z episode and its the calm period before they all start grunting and making weird choking sounds.
