Pyroclasm kills any number of 1/1 tokens. It simply doesn't kill this guy.
This is even barring the fact that, of course, Martial Coup has one more CMC to get the field-wipe effect.
I agree that Martial Coup is better in many situations, but it is by no means strictly better.
This guy could probably do with 
less in his cost, though. Would have made him reasonable to play, even in casual.

Reading the comments for this card, this thing is totally underrated. Board wiping and leaving a creature behind is very powerful. In emergencies, he can at least be a 3/3 blocker for you.
Overall, I'd agree that it's usually worse than martial coup, but not always. Being 1 less mana is quite significant.
Ignore the fact that if you don't pay the kicker, he blows up your own board. You choose to pay the kicker if you want, so look at him as more of a 6 mana creatures that kills all other creatures when he comes into play.
Sure, he's a 3/3, but that's one hell of an ETB effect. The kicker just makes him less abusable - which is probably a good thing.
I am using him in my Tajic duel commander deck which uses Tajics indestructibility by constantly blowing up the board with wrath of god effects, and using creatures that dodge them (manlands, gideon, this guy) to activate battalion against empty b... (see all)

I wouldn't say that. Martial Coup costs 1 more to cast if you want the wrath effect, and five 1/1s aren't necessarily better than a 3/3.

Worth adding to your deck only if you have ways to bounce him in and out of play to reuse him.
Which is something that is much harder to do with Wrath or Coup.

Definitely an awful card unless the kicker is always paid, and even paid its 2RRWW for a wrath of god on a 3/3. Not too great. 3/5.
