got one of these just wish i had two so thered be better odds id get one in my opening hand. unless your comboing this card with something a late game black vise isnt as effective. wish i had The Rack. them together would be great even though it still provides your oponent with a safety zone of 3-4 cards in hand. they did at least reprint them both as Iron Maiden and Wheel of Torture but at the cost of 2 more for their cc.

Despite looking similar to The Rack, it's subtly different. You don't play this in a black environment- you play this in blue, where you can control their plays and slow them down to the point where they're taking multiple points of damage per turn, and can't even do anything about it.

I prefer the Rack, personally, but I won't deny that this is stronger in the right deck.

@jannissary, incorrect. the best black vise deck used the combination of the 4 vises with nether void, sinkhole, icequake, strip mine, and mishra's factory and it was mono black.

At converted mana cost 1, Black Vice is a hundred times deadlier than the Rack. Because of this, Black Vice found itself on the restricted list. Generally speaking, the Vice wasn't played alongside its counterpart, the Rack. Instead it was played with land destruction, and Winter Orb. Later on, it was played with the mighty Prophecy to maximize the efficiency of Prosperous Bloom decks.

one of these can easily knock down an opponents health to half within 4 turns if unchecked... and as a one-drop, not much can beat black vise...

who doesn't love a card that hates control, early and hard? only control players, and even they don't mind that much.

This card was the bane of my early-card playing days when I faced it. My friends and I all had more than a couple, so it saw very frequent play.

An obvious component to card-drawing combos, and pretty devastating when used in groups and/or with The Rack.

5/5

One of very few cards where you can actually feel the fun portion of the game being crushed out of you..A good card nonetheless, just very frustrating to play against, especially against (as often is the case) a discard deck.
