Or, after its fellow treefolk Woodfall Primus dies twice, it can bring it back from the grave.

Deadwood Treefolk plays nicely with Momentary Blink or Flicker to keep it from vanishing and returning more dead creatures to your hand.

Love this card! Works great with eldrazi monument in EDH - on the turn you're supposed to remove your last time counter, sacrifice it to monument to return another creature to hand. If you can get him out of the grave, keeping even just non-token creatures on board with monument will be no problem.

And yeah - him and Woodfall Primus are butt-buddies 4 sho, but Deadwood and Eternal Witness combo by putting his wood on viagra! Throw a Skullclamp on eternal witness to "seal the deal" between the two graveyard lovers, conjuring a weird image of skulls and necrophilia.

He's a staple in EDH and unplayable everywhere else. Funny how that de***ion applies to a lot of great EDH cards.

Cast him copied with Riku, and you get two 3/5s, plus two creatures back from the graveyard, and when they die, you get two more. The best thing is, if the original dies before the token, you can return the original to your hand, and repeat the process. I survived MULTIPLE board wipes like this.
