The artwork is anything but ugly. RK Post's artwork is some of the best. He's right up there with Raymond Swanland.

So much wasted space, this just begs for flavor text. :-( I think it is the border that makes this card look ugly. In a newer border (Hint, Hint, Wizards...) I think this art would look just fine. I never liked that vomit-looking gold texture.

For those whom disagree with her color-to-ability ratio, it's very simple.
Blue Flying
White Vigilance
Red Haste

Sure flying is pretty popular in White, especially on Angels but really, it lines up so well like this. Plus, Vigilance (before it was keyworded) was more of a Red ability back in the day, so all three of these work very well for this color combination.

Reprint for blazes! I want one for my RedWhiteBlue "wing commander" deck.

Lightning Angel is effectively out of lightning bolt range. Well done wizards!

Interesting synergy with Raka Sanctuary, because she both activates that enchantment ~and~ survived the mandatory pinging if she's the only creature on the board.. Red is probably a very important color for vigilance decks, because not only is this card the best creature with vigilance in the game, red also provides access to Seize The Day! :)

Check out her sister Stoic Angel. This was the perfect card for finishing in the old Goblin Trenches deck archtype back in the day.

The Time Spiral version is one of the most elegant cards ever printed.

If you doubt this card's power, try searching the gatherer for creatures with Flying and Haste. A 3/4 with Vigilance on top at the mana cost of 1RedWhiteBlue is almost too good to be true. Incredible to say the least, my favorite card of all time.

@Alesbra: It appears that you've forgotten what card advantage is, young dragon. Having to use two cards to mimic the solidarity of a Lightning Angel, while simultaneously having a gimpy toughness of 2 (not only in range of Lightning Bolt but also in range of Shock) means your little ploy doesn't even get "clever points." The Cheese Stands Alone on this one; and by cheese, I mean Lightning Angel.

Bummer we didn't see a reprint in the RedWhiteBlue Commander deck - that one was a little under-powered, but I guess they wanted to save all the Angels for the WhiteBlackRed Heavenly Inferno to maintain thematic integrity.

White angels already get 2 of the three abilities more often than not. They should've given it umm... some really blue effect.
