Dingus Egg is a combo piece. It is complementary with cards like Stone Rain, Demonic Hordes, and Armageddon. The Egg has two major problems. Its casting cost is high for a card that doesn't do much on its own, and it is a dead giveaway that you're playing land destruction. In multiplayer, once you've let that little cat out of the bag, you can bet your opponents will focus on you.

for everyone hating on this card, you obviously haven't built a very good land destruction deck. 5 stars all the way, 2 damage is 10% of your opponent's life.

It's a bit too slow to be really useful in a land destruction deck. Generally, you don't want to wait until you have 4 mana before you bring out Stone Rain etc. If you hold on to your Stone Rains till after Dingus Egg is in play, you'd give your opponents a chance to cast a few nasty things; but if you start destroying land right away, your opponent won't have a chance.

Land destruction remains one of the most difficult M.O.'s to pull off in Magic. I've tried a dozen times to use this guy in an LD deck without much luck. {4} is just a bit too steep to get out early, unless you're playing green mana acceleration. Too bad green doesn't have a lot in the way of cheap LD.
