If you know what a Grub is, then you'd know that Deadly Grub makes a deadly beetle!
Yes, I know that, but "Deadly Insect" is vague. I'm clarifying that grubs become beetles (while maggots become flies and caterpillars become butterflies.)

So flavourful! Now Deadly Insect has an origin story.

You could use Cryptoplasm to get a Grub without tokens quite quickly to get your insect, possibly two. The problem is... the insect is not that good.

Um, I think that would be a Deadly Insect.

I love the flavor of this card, but I wish the Green Worm had regen, or trample, or something as opposed to shroud. The 6/1 is easily chump-blocked.
Still though, a really cool card that I frequently consider when making B/G decks.

Is this supposed to be an inverse Penumbra creature or I'm just imagining it?

This+Vampire Hexmage, free 6/1 shroud on turn 2 or 3 if done right...just need to give it haste and trample, and you've got a black Ball Lightning

Not a lot of black cards interact with counters, but you can play him with Hex Parasite and Aether Snap.

Not a bad card, but it's a bit weak. Maybe if they had trample...
