Let me see, there is a land that makes all lands swamps, a black enchantment that makes all lands swamps, and at least two black enchant lands that turn the enchanted land into a swamp. Have I forgoten any other black swamp-makers?

Evil Presence was the original swamp-maker. There's always been loads of swampwalk, and if you were looking to make a deck around landwalk, black is the way to go.

Orcish Farmer is a grey ogre that turns a land into a swamp.

Slimy Kavu is a gray ogre that turns a land into a swamp.

This card is so easy to use these days, and since swampwalk is sort-of back with Golgari (Sewer Shambler etc.). Thus:

Filth + Evil Presence + Contaminated Ground + Nighthaze + Leshrac's Rite + any old or new swampwalkers you want, and go to town.

Splash blue and Wrexial, the Risen Deep can bring Cthulhu to your shores!

Oh boy, one mana to make a creature swampwalk! Oh wait, you're playing islands. Touche.

can work well if built around, but almost useless otherwise, even in limited. I used to have an islandwalk deck, and it worked decently. Have a few Urborgs, that one enchantment that turns them into swamps, and a lot of beefy swampwalkers. There are a lot of better ideas to build a deck around though, so this card isn't worth much and will end up stuffed in your junk pile for eternity.

Yes, but there are much better things one can do with black that just attempt to kill other decks with landwalk. Most black creatures really aren't stron enough for landwalk to be effective, and if they are, they have other super useful abilities to help them trash the enemy... just saying. :D

the FLAVOR of Landwalk, and particularly Swampwalk, has always been phenomenal (Evil things pass through Darkness), but I've always felt it was somewhat lacking in gameplay Value terms.

Both Protection and Trample tend to feel like better keywords that you'd want on a creature, and Shadow unfortunately feels like a bit too much for the "Rogue" flavor of Swamp and Island walks.
Forestwalk shows up on "Rangery" cards a lot. Plainswalk is just bad though, bad flavor, bad value, bad everything, and that's why it only shows up on 3 cards. The problem is they made Landwalk a Cycle of Keywords, and I think the game would be much better off if they consolidated the 5 Landwalk Keywords into one, tuned with flavor that it could be put it on Shadowy things with Swampwalk, or Rangery things with Forestwalk, or Mountaineers and Fish.

The Keyword name I suggest is: Wanderer. :) This quite excellently fits all the needs of the previous Landwalk mechanics.

The second problem with the way Land-... (see all)
