Each Time Spiral card was an homage to at least one previously printed card.
This card references Shadow Rider as well as black's 'skulking' creatures such as Skulking Ghost and Skulking Fugitive.

I never saw the skulking thing as much of a drawback. 9 times out of 10, when an opponent targets one of your creatures with something, it's a burn or removal spell that would kill it anyway. So this is basically saying "if Skulking Knight is about to die, it dies." Unless your opponent has a permanent with a repeatable targeting ability, he's going to have to waste a card to get rid of it.

Not as bad as you might guess, targeting isn't as common as you would think it would be. Still vulnerable though, works best when combined with haakon, stromgald scourge or lord of the undead
