Very nice shutdown, and goes beautifully with a Flash creature. 4.5/5.

Drain Power is best used in the late game to really load up your mana pool for a big finisher spell. It's not a particularly reliable way to get mana for two reasons: 1.) If your opponent has good tempo, he probably won't have a lot of untapped lands during your turn, and 2.) If your opponent has any mana outlets at all (Dragon Engine, for example), you'll get the bare minimum. Drain Power is more effective for denying your opponent the ability to cast later spells. This is why it's a good combo piece to a finisher spell such as Fireball or Disintegrate. Once you've cast Drain Power, you no longer need to worry about your opponent countering your important spell.

Not terrible, not great either.

Best used as a late game finisher, particularly with "X" costed spells like Banefire. You could obviously use it to fuel large creatures in early rounds as well, although the likelihood of your opponent's mana being untapped is a lot lower in the early game.

This rocks! In a Niv-Mizzet deck, you can use this with a Fireball or something like that!

Even Mana Drain didn't use "drain" as a verb the way this card does. Awesome.

Old Magic cards are cool for having such nonstandardized descr-iptive text, but I'm kinda glad the game mechanics aren't loose like that anymore.

....It took me a long while puzzling over the middle-of-the-word-de***ion censorship of 'script' to realize they censor-block the word s c r i p t not because it's vulgar, but because they want to block attempts to execute something like javascript in these comment boxes.

Glad someone mentioned you can get around this by sticking italics and close-italics in the middle of the word (shall we call them kiki-jiki, censor breaker?)

Gatherer works better in the Companion app!
