There's a special place in my heart for the island fish. Shame it's completely terrible.

@VampireCat
The text as it is on the card makes it fetchable, which is the only reason this card is vaguely known by people - of course the Oracle text cancels that. And yes, it would tap for mana - the reason Changelings can't tap for mana is because there is no creature type 'Island' in the game. The fish would be similar to Dryad Arbor.

The idea that Island Fish Jasconius is only "vaguely known by people" is ludicrous in its own right. Island Fish is an iconic piece of Magic history. And while Gopher may be *ahem* overstating the Fish's virtues ever-so-slightly, dropping this on the battlefield when your opponent was playing Pearled Unicorns and Ironroot Treefolk was a gasp-worthy event. Like so many of the early blue behemoths, Island Fish was not without its drawbacks. The 3 blue mana to untap wasn't so bad, considering you had to have 7 mana just to get it out in the first place. But the Fish couldn't even attack unless your opponent had Islands. This made it necessary to run Phantasmal Terrain in your deck, just in case. Players who were all ready using Sea Serpents and/or Lord of Atlantis in their decks probably all ready had those land enchantments in their decks, so the Island Fis... (see all)

Island Fish is big: 6/8. He is a way to add the awesome attack and defense power to any deck. I mean, come on..the guy is a floating ISLAND for Pete's sake. That's BIG. That's HUGE. Fish can work with also any combo. Put Lance on him for devastating first strike option. Enchant him with the Holy Armor and he becomes best creature in Dominia. Card also is attractive and good art. Strong critter. I have won between seven and 200 game with Fish.

Pro tip:
Since it's creature type is island, it can tap for blue mana.

Its creature type isn't Island. Read the Gatherer text.
Being an "Island" creature wouldn't let it tap for mana anyway - otherwise all Changelings would be de facto Birds of Paradise.

Kinda wish it was redone like Dryad Arbor, if only for the silliness of using Farseek to throw it down turn 2.

i joined arena league at a convention in 95. a guy came around saying that, as a bonus, newly-joined players received a pack of either italian legends or revised. my opponent and i both opted for revised. he got a taiga, and i got this guy....
