I prefer Magical Hacker, personally :) But, as a huge fan of Spectral Shift, I respect this card for both its historical and functional value.

Unlike the Laces, this actually has some interesting uses if you're creative enough.

I call HACKS.

it's not an amazing card but it's a funny one. it's one of the cards you play and giggle every 3 casual games you play with it in your deck.

The power of this card could not be understated in it's time. Since it had nothing comparable, they were expensive, hard to find, an absolute game wrecker. It has a legacy of cards beind it. 5/5 then. 2/5 now. WOTC ruins everything...

Magical Hack, and its counterpart Sleight of Mind, were best used with the color-hosers that were so prevalent back then. Lifetap and Volcanic Eruption were made that much better when Magical Hack could make them effective against any opponent. You could change your Lord of Atlantis to give all your Merfolk of the Pearl Trident forestwalk. Also, because it didn't say "all instances" at the time, one could use it to allow his Sea Serpent or Island Fish Jasconius to attack a person who controlled Mountains without worrying about his islandhome creature being buried. And you could do all that without ever leaving blue!
