They used polar bears, the only cold-weather bears known for NOT hibernating and for loving the cold.
But then, no species of bear actually hibernates, in the technical sense of the word.

unfortunately it's not "equal to or less" so if you don't have a creature with a certain cmc, such as 7, then you won't get anything. but that won't happen in an edh deck.

Sliversss... come out and plaaaayyyy...
1st grab a virulent sliver or a sidewinder sliver, then a muscle sliver/sinew sliver or winged sliver for evasion (or third get the shadow sliver in in range to KO), ect. and so on, whatever you need most. Then beat down or poison out - it'll get you what you need. And if it gets up to 5 then hey, pick your favorite sliver mama or papa.

Gilder Bairn can speed this up, but you better be prepared to pay for it.
And i think I'd cheat out something more lethal than bears :p

Hey, not bad. Cute little monster factory.. Gotta be careful with the timing though. Fairly high startup cost, but anything that takes a little random out of the game is helpful enough to be worth considering. Wonder if there are any cute tricks you could play with counter management...
