Of all the "planeshifted" cards from Planar Chaos, this one has got to be the most damaging. Most people understand that green is not supposed to have flying, or blue is not supposed to have discard... but combat tricks? Every color has combat tricks. It's hard to focus on what makes this card come from an alternate reality, which is that this card is just a more powerful version of a combat trick for Red... you know... equal to Giant Growth, which is generally the best combat trick of any set it is printed in.
As players, power level is our blind spot. Many of us desire things to be better than they are, so they can go in our deck. We don't play with Red's combat tricks very often, because Red's removal is generally better. The tricks are printed as either a surprise, or as an interesting choice for limited. This card, though, can be arguably better than Lightning Bolt in some decks. It makes every other combat trick in Red look bad. It makes a bunch of players desire red to... (see all)

"I'm attacking with my Jackal Pup, you blocking?"
"Nope."
"Ok, I'm playing Brute Force. Take 5."

Somehow feels stronger in red.

Oh god. In Worldwake they printed Bull Rush instead of reprinting this. They even had a theme deck named "Brute Force".
I dislike you, Wizards! :C

I wish they'd reprint this in 2011, or some red instant buff that was actually decent (I'm looking at you, Bull Rush). I'm sure it'd be unconventional to have this and Giant Growth in the same set... but it could be interesting.

I love how this is rated lower than giant growth.

One of my favorite cards from Planar Chaos (Damnation comes to mind).
Fantastic synergy with Kiln Fiend, and a nice card to have when you want to save your creatures from Earthquake or Pyroclasm (yours or your opponents').
Also fits nicely into most Goblin decks if you're having troubles with your opponents' fatties.

Further proof that if it is off color it is more powerful than the original.
