Well, WotC could have give green more creatures with First Strike instead.

I like this card more than Giant Growth, because it's surprising and red has a focus on instantaneous effects.

Green on the other hand, should have more "unsurprising", but steady things. +1/+1 counters or an aura similar to Volcanic Strength would fit better, especially in Limited tournaments.

This and Assault Strobe on a Kiln Fiend make a Turn 3 win if your opponent can't answer.

This is one of the reasons you HAVE to love Red. Take that, Green!

It's not perfect, however. In a red deck, I'd rather have firebreathing.

With the way red has plenty of first strike/double strike creatures, this is definitely better in red than in green, since making a vanilla big creature bigger isn't all that exciting.

The key thing that makes this card great is that it increases toughness, a point where red tends to lack in a lot of cases. Also, it's nice to be able to save your creature from a bolt and then hit the opposing player for a nice extra three damage for his cheek.

The only problem is that Lightning bolt is the better card, just like how lightning bolt is better than giant growth. If you're running 4 lightning bolts, than it's alright to add this to your deck, but if you're running less, it's almost always better to just add another bolt.

This card is definitely above curve for red, but Bull Rush is just as definitely below curve. A red equivalent to giant growth should be more like "target attacking creature gets +3/+0 until end of turn." That gives you zero defensive options, it makes the card a slightly worse corollary to Lightning Bolt, but with the option to benefit from double strike, which red has some access to.

Bull Rush is obsolete! Think of what you could do with this and Djinn Illuminatus...

This card is great, the players that don't appreciate it aren't.
Hard to understand the retarded logic of some MtG players; a giant growth for red, how this ends up being a bad thing? wouldn't have a clue.

If you dont like it dont feild it, simple.
the timespiral block has some amazing cards, its refreshing and has some great theme, you must realise, regardless of what you may belive that there are people in MtG who spend as much time/effort and money into it, that appreciate when wizards makes cards like this.

5/5 imo.

@ Paleopaladin, you want Reckless Charge. It even has flashback too.

The flavor text on this always makes me laugh. Great card, too. I like to run it with Boros Swiftblade.
