I tried to build around it by making a standard cleric deck but even then it was still marginal at best.

If you attack with this creature more than two times you're probably doing it wrong.
If you attack with this creature more than three times dissasemble your deck and rethink your strategy.
also if you combo these with "Jhoira of the Ghitu" you get a very grixilicious effect for just 2 mana.

The suspend ability seems very weak, unless your doing the lowest possible 4 mana. But hey if your playing aggro black, get him down to 10 health, if your at 20 this thing is a 10/10 for 5 mana (or 4 if you suspend).
That alone makes me want to try it. Maybe run x4 Vampire Nighthawk + x4 Child of Night?
