A burly creature in days long past, this guy is now too expensive, especially as a vanilla creature. Hell, even in the days of Revised, compare him to Wall of Swords.

In my very first Starter deck of Magic cards, this was my favorite creature. It wasn't my biggest creature. I also had a Sea Serpent and a Craw Wurm. But compared to the other creatures I owned and had seen, a 3/5 was no slouch. It's not really fair to compare the treefolk to Wall of Swords. Defenders are always costed lower by virtue of the fact that they can't deal damage to opponents (without help). And Ironroot Treefolk is a common. At the common rarity, not much compared to the Treefolk in terms of P/T except the aforementioned Sea Serpent and Craw Wurm.

He certainly doesn't deserve only 1/2 a star. I don't think I'll give anything from the original set that low of a score. A 3/5 for 5cmc wasn't outrageous back then. Make that same creature now, yes, it'll get the lowest score possible. It's better than Zephyr Spirit. I could find tons of cards worse than this guy.

Only good thing is the flavor text. Which is hillarious. You guys do realize you can vote half a star right? Cause 1 whole star is a bit much for this guy.
