This card can actually counter uncounterable spells. Wait for them to tap out for a big banefire, play this on top and the spell gets removed from the game before it can resolve.
At Rezelin: The person you're using it on still does get a cleanup step (check on the rulings). This means that creatures get damage pulled off of them, they discard down to seven (or whatever their maximum hand size is), and all turn duration effects wear off.

Pretty cool how it exiles spells on the stack.

This and Venser is what made my blue deck such a threat. It is powerful cards like these that stop the greatest of all threats in magic. One of the few spells that not only "counters" spells, but also gives you an extra turn if played during their upkeep. Can be worth a lot of card advantage with howling mines in play.

@phantom.lance:
Some of the most interesting options with this:
1) Cast it during your opponent's upkeep, as soon as he passes priority. In this case, you have essentially cast a more fair-costed version of Time Warp. Plus, by doing this during his upkeep, he doesn't get to draw a card.
2) Cast it in response to a spell or ability he cast. Looks like Mindbreak Trap a little, one that has the potential to force him to skip things he'd like to do next (subsequent non-instants, attack phase sometimes etc).
3) During combat. It's not just a Fog. Most good players tend to cast stuff during their second main phase. Which they won't have. 'Cause you say so. Especially useful against aggro players who thought they'd win right away by swinging for 56 damage. Some moments are priceless.
4) In response to Emrakul, the Aeons Torn's Time Warping ability. Yes, it's worth mentioning separately.

It's a shame it's such a complex thing. This would be an incredibly sexy card with "End the turn." all by itself in the center of the text box.

Andon, no they won't. Emrakul's extra turn ability is triggered, and as such, it uses the stack. If you Time Stop in response to the trigger, it and Emrakul will be exiled and thus not resolve.

@Rezelin: According to Oracle rulings for Time Stop, the affected player's turn is finished. That player cannot go through the rest of his/her turn.

I like this card, I mean, mindbreak trap is now another way to deal with uncounterable spells, but this is the only spell that will properly stop emrakul. Emrakul not only gets exiled, but the player also doesn't get their extra turn, and loses their current one. This is only important if you play EDH, but im glad I have it.

@Robram: Nice try with the reference, but that'd be more like if it said "Start this turn over." Which would be a rules nightmare and wouldn't really do anything, since they would probably just do the same thing over again.
