I love green, it's my favorite color (both in and out of Magic), and even with that, I think Deathmark is a great spell. I'd run this in a black/green deck... in the main deck.

This doesnt hit colorless, while doom blade does.
This hits 7/10 guilds, doom blade hits 6/10.
This hits 9/10 tricolors, doom blade hits 4/10.
This hits all quadcolors, doom blade hits 1/5.
This hits 5 color, doom blade doesnt.
Include the 2/5 and 4/5 monocolors, and this hits 24/32 possible color schemes, while doom blade hits 15/32. Granted, monocolor might be more common, but especially with the duo colored mana symbols these days, I wouldnt be so sure.
