Redirection is both Red & Blue... that's why it's printed in both colors. (Duh!)
As for this card, it used to be good... but Swerve is better.

A mono red deck could use this on a multi color deck to toss nicole bolas's 1st ability right back in his face! We need more mono color cards with power like this.

@tenkaze - I would agree but your post gives me hope...
A card's costs are paid, and it is placed on the stack BEFORE the targets are chosen. Therefore, you can cast this card, and then choose Shunt as a new target for cancel. Check the official rules, and more specifically, rule 601, for further details.
However, I cannot find any reference to a rule that states that a spell cannot target itself. Why can't you redirect cancel to cancel?

It's card names like these that make me think that WotC likes looking through thesauruses a little too much.

@kiseki
Rule 114.4: A spell or ability on the stack is an illegal target for itself.
There you go.

Super-entertaining to use this on Time Stretch, Braingeyser, Curse of the Cabal, Flame Wave... big spells, basically.
