Meh, usual cost to cantrip something is 2, having it for 1 on a Shatter isn't too bad.

Smash to Smithereens is better? Hmmm, I don't think so. If you play a heavy burn deck, then I'd probably skip the artifact removal in favor of more burn. And if I don't play a burn deck, I'd play something like shattering pulse, or at least a cantrip version, like this one. I have this in most red multiplayer decks of mine. There are always some annoying artifacts played in multiplayer, and with this card I can easily get rid of one, without spending a card.

Amazing how unless some "pro" points it out in an article, people really don't understand card advantage.
Paying 1 for 1 card is a STEAL in Magic.

I'm with Majinara. Cards will almost always beat a few points of damage. Particularly in Red, when extra cards are rare, and damage is really common.

Every deck needs cards. Every turn your craving to see what the next card is, even when your playing with burn or beat-down. Drawing an extra one is like Christmas coming early.
Anything that cantrips is always worth a second look. This wrecks an artifact and draws a card for a reasonable cost for . Definitely worth sideboarding, even over Smelt.

No longer for a cantrip with Smelt around, though still a respectable card.

@Majinara
I disagree. Some decks can win before a player can successfully burn them down using a combo using artifact. This destroys artifact AND deals 3 damage at instant speed. Smash costs too much for competitive play. If you pay 3 mana just to destroy an artifact, it is another mana wasted compared to Smash to Smithereens.

If only you could spam Liquimetal Coating somehow, then this becomes an absolutely fantastic Stone Rain.
