Lands can be targeted by Reknit. Although that wasn't actual during the time this card was printed, lands could still be animated through means of Living Plane, and enchanted with Regeneration or regenerated through an effect.
I guess the "can't be regenerated" clause was there because artifacts could regenerate anyways, and it would be too greasy templating if it was worded otherwise.
Anyways, solid toolbox card for the situation. Smash a land for tempo, or smash a sword. Solid 4.5/5

3 mana for land D is basically the standard, but it can also hit artifacts if needed. much better than stone rain.
