I'll agree with the other three posters, this art/flavor text combo on Lava Axe is my favorite.
But I will grudgingly agree with Wanderer25 that the art is kinda static and not as dynamic as the Urza's picture, but...I like it a lot better anyway. And I started with 9th Edition, so it's not that I like this art because of nostalgia.

Sorry, but this art is just as lame as that on most 7th edition cards. It has no sense of movement or action- the axe is just hovering there. This is because most of the compositional elements are on the vertical or horizontal, and are on one plane. There's no real sense of the axe coming forward. Compare this to the standard art, with the strong diagonal movement and sense of depth. The textures are too smooth and clean in this one, too. Do all red mages look like they've just had haircuts?

best art imo. and there's not even a question on the flavor text: the best on the card.

This art does not even compare to the Urza art, and "catch" is one word. I dont like one word flavor texts.

Looks like I will have to go to another printing to find comments on the actual card...
