It's not as good as it seems. For enchantments or artifacts with activated abilities, sure, you can get rid of it, but it gives the opponent an extra turn to use the ability. Sometimes one extra turn of a Luminarch Ascension is not a good thing. Still, in many instances it would be fine.

Lots of fun in multiplayer, if you like to mess with people's heads by attaching this to something they need. Also a good idea to have a few other artifacts/ enchantments in the deck, in case you have no opponents with either. An extra 2 life a turn is better than nothing.

This card seems to get mixed feelings because of its lack of speed. I can understand that, but what makes it stand out to me is that not only is it a permanent but an enchantment as well. Unlike a lot of instants or sorceries that are only used once and discarded, this can be returned from the graveyard through cards like Auramancer, Dowsing Shaman or Nature's Spiral. Being an enchantment aura allows for synergy with cards such as Mesa Enchantress, Kor Spiritdancer, Celestial Ancient and Totem-guide Hartebeest to name only a few. Also, the life gain has its uses when considering things like Searing Meditation or Ajani's Pridemate and surpasses other options (Ajani's Mantra).
