The 'tap enchantment' idea is pretty sick. Unfortunately, this was a bad way to represent it.

Not bad. I like it.
I would be looking forward to other tapping enchantments.

I don't see why this card is rated so low.
It can be worked like a pacifism for red, or just kill the creature instead.

Global enchantments that tap are fine. Auras that tap, however, create issues since many people are used to tap both a creature and an aura when they attack, it's just natural. Things get even worse when you use dice for tokens and have an aura on one of the tokens.
The thing is, right now, it's pretty reasonable to operate under the assumption that auras never tap (unless otherwise noted). I've played thousands of games and the only game (which may or may not have happened) where I had an Aura tapped involved me playing Flame Fusillade.
Another big argument against having an Aura like this, is that there's almost no gain in doing so. All of the below would do something that's really similar to Flowstone Embrace:
0: enchanted creature gets +2/-2 until eot. Activate this ability only once each turn.
At the beginning of your / each player's upkeep, you may have enchanted creature get +2/-2 until eot.
I hardly see a need for this innovation.

This card has no Pacifism-ness to it, it taps the enchantment (which is weird/isn't in other sets) it can kill 2 or lower toughness creatures though.
There doesn't seem much point to this card to be honest, the tap is mostly a weakness.
"This creature get's +2/-2 during your turn or their turn (or not at all)"
Seems like it would be better to just give it the same stats, but permanently (ie with a different card) trying to abuse the ability to turn it on at will isn't likely to be worth it.
2/5 for semi pump and semi kill

The nice thing about the tap enchantments from Future Sight is that, if you're creative, you can pump a lot of power from 'em.
Sadly, this one is a touch on the underwhelming side, as is most Flowstone shenanigans. Fun, though.

Enchantments that tap have the potential to be really cool. I think it's safe to say this hasn't reached that potential, however?

This is a neat take on Immolation - the fact that the Aura itself taps means that it can be selectively used. For example, if you are sending Scroll Thief to attack an opponent, and all they have is Tundra Wolves, you may want to vary your actions depending on whether or not they block. If they block, you definitely want your thief to survive, so you don't activate. If they do not, you can sting them for an extra 2 in addition to getting your card.
All in all, an interesting concept, and offers some versatility. Just like Immolation, this also doubles as removal for smaller creatures and low toughness regenerators. Needless to say, a decent common for limited. In-set, this transforms your Bloodshot Trainee into a removal machine, while keeping him out at 3 toughness when he's not using his ability. Pretty dangerous, especially in limited.
I hope to see more tapping enchantm... (see all)
