I'm assuming Tommy9898 is trying to point everyone toward a cheaper version of this spell, but it's hard to tell. While Death Stroke is cheaper, it's also harder to splash for, so they both have their advantages.
Considering Royal Assassin, I think this could have been an instant, though it'd have to be heavier in the colored cost in that case, like {1}{B}{B}.

Decent removal. Unlike Terror, it can actually kill other black creatures, but the cost and the "tapped" effects hinder its usefulness. And with that said there are also a lot of other chaep black removal spells in the met-game right now such as Terminate and Unmake, so I doubt this card will see any future play.

It's Unmake that really makes this card useless. Same price, playable in white too, no stupid tapping requirement, gets around indestructibility and prevents any on-graveyard triggered ability.
At least in retrospect, this card is abysmal.

Assassinate.
These censors stink.

I thought this card was bad, then I realized this card wasn't even an instant. This card is terrible!

At first glance I thought this was mediocre removal, but I quickly changed my mind. Path to Exile, Terminate, Unmake, Terror and even Eyeblight's Ending are better than this. Unless you're obsessed with killing Maralen of the Mornsong with a non-white, non-red, splashed black deck, this is an amazingly pointless card. Even then this card would be unimpressive because it's a sorcery, and you'd have to hope your opponent taps it AND doesn't regenerate it.

Murder. If this gets a functional reprint, it needs to be an instant with same mana cost.

This is a fine card. Yes, there are "better" options out there, but the CMC of Assassinate is great for Limited, and I wouldn't be embarassed at all to run this in an EDH deck or a singleton game. It's even Cube worthy.
